こんにちわ!
Welcome to my very first blog X_x''
This blog, like the Japanese language, marks my first steps into uncharted territory! Like all journeys, mine also has a catalyst. My first forays into Japanese culture came in grade school when I watched Kiki's Delivery Service, by Hayou Miyuzaki. Also, my mom contributed somewhat to my interest in Japan. When she was in graduate school, my mom had a Japanese roommate named ちえこさん。Although they lost contact, my mom still keeps some gifts from Japan that ちえこさん gave her. Interestingly enough, one of the American Girl Dolls I bought when I was little had Japanese features, and I named her ちえこさん, after my mom's old roommate. Pokemon cards were also hugely popular in my neighborhood while I was growing up, and naturally, seeing that all of my close childhood friends were boys, I too became part of the Pokemon craze. Then, in middle school, I discovered Yu-gi-oh the television show, anime, manga, and jpop. Although I never became an obsessive fan, I did develop an interest in Japanese history and culture in high school; however, my high school didn't offer any means of pursuing my interests. So, when I came to college, I decided to take Japanese, for both old reasons and new reasons. As a history major, I learned that studying historical documents in their original languages is always the prefered method. So, since I'm interest in Japanese history, naturally being able to speak, write, and read Japanese will be very helpful! じゃあまた!
